I have taken two courses under Professor Ben Haj Frej, namely “Wireless Sensors Networks” and “Wireless Communications.” He provided the class with a lot of insight and his thorough knowledge helped me to publish two research papers in two conferences (first in ASEE, then in IEEE). At the beginning of each semester, he would ask us to form groups and would provide us with a timeline to work on research projects. He would supply us with all the necessary information to tackle each step of the project and was always available after class for follow ups and to answer any questions we might have. He also trained us on elaborating through PowerPoint presentations on our advancement in our projects and present them in class. There, we got his valuable feedback and he would make corrections as needed. At the end of the course, all the students in both classes elaborated on research papers and it thrilled us, as it was our first exposure to research and publishing. His effective and engaging teaching methodologies allowed him to simplify the compound engineering concepts that he taught us. I had the privilege to assist Dr. Ben Haj Frej with his research after the completion of the two courses and was engaged in in-depth learning in the field of security in cloud computing. He served as a mentor for me in the process of finalizing my master’s degree, applying to my internship and searching for my current full-time job. It has been a great pleasure to work under Professor Ben Haj Frej ‘s guidance and I wish him all the best.

I was green when I took a fundamental course in the electronics field with Professor Ben Haj Frej. He always showed considerable ambition and motivation to his surroundings. As an instructor, he is consistently eager to entirely discover his field against all the odds. I consider him as my mentor, as he was there to help me finalize on my master’s project and apply for jobs after my graduation. At times, he advised that life would not be meaningful if you take the least resistant path. Despite the challenging way he has chosen, he managed to achieve his goals on actively build knowledge in the security realm, in concordance with his research field and finalize on his PhD. I envision greater success to Professor Mohamed.

I have known Professor Mohamed for two years and have interacted with him extensively in his capacity as my professor and mentor. I took Wireless Sensor Networks with him and completed a research project under his guidance. During my coursework and research, I have come to know him and learnt a great deal from him.
He is a very kind, dedicated, hard-working and immensely knowledgeable teacher. He puts a lot of effort and hard work into making sure all his students learn and has profound mentorship skills.
An important aspect of his interactions with students is his ability to make learning interesting. He is always encouraging students to ask questions and is happily available to answer them. He takes keen interest in students’ work and provides the right amount of guidance allowing them to be independent and creative.
I personally have benefited immensely from taking a course with him. I had never done research work before taking his course, and he taught me how to ask questions, identify a problem and find answers. His mentorship led me to present my work at conferences held by reputable organisations like IEEE.
He strives hard to make his students self-sufficient and I consider that a great achievement for any teacher. I am grateful to him for all his help and guidance and thank him for everything.
Sincerely,
Baidar Khan

I have known Mohamed Ben Haj Frej since I joined University of Bridgeport for my graduate studies in the year 2016. He was my professor for Wireless Sensor Networks and Modern Wireless Communication courses. Ben Haj had a strong desire for research in the field of Wireless Communications and Network Security. He was the one who motivated me to publish my first research paper " Energy Efficient Routing Protocols and Efficient Bandwidth Techniques in Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks which was published in 2017 IEEE Long Island Systems, Applications, and Technology Conference (LISAT) during my graduate studies. He has always been very supportive and his constant critics, opinions, and recommendations have helped me develop my technical knowledge. I wish him the very best of luck in all his future endeavors.

“I have known Dr. Mohamed Ben Haj Frej for two years as a professor. He taught me two courses: Modern Wireless Communication and Wireless Sensor Networks during my graduate studies at the University of Bridgeport. I am lucky to have had the opportunity to be a student of his and feel proud of it. He was a very dedicated teacher and explained every concept in detail. His teaching methods were unique in a way where he encouraged students to research a topic of their preference and interest, then make a class presentation on the chosen subject, apart from regular class tests and exams. I later realized the benefits of such methods as it not only helped me improve my understanding of concepts to a greater depth but also gave me the confidence in my ability to make excellent presentations. These skills are still helping me even today in my current job. His constructive criticism has taught me a lot and has gone a long way in gaining high confidence in my research capabilities. His motivation to teach despite being a busy working professional is something to be respected and is an inspiration to all of us. Apart from academics, I have also learned a lot from his excellent attitude of having a constant appetite for knowledge. Last but not least, he has a unique sense of humor for which I am and will always be a big fan.”

I have had the distinct pleasure of working with Mohamed for over ten years and have always found him to be responsive, detail-oriented and a true pleasure to work with. Many times over the last decade, I would work late nights on various projects and if there was anyone else still in the office working, it was more often than not Mohamed. I've seen Mohamed take on tasks of enormous magnitude and diligently work through those initiatives with focus and drive; and always with a smile on his face. Mohamed is a true professional in every sense of the phrase.

Mr. Frej works extremely well in a team environment. He was always willing to assist his colleagues in problems. He is eagerly dedicated to his work. Extremely goal oriented as well as a team player. He is being a real people person; he was also pleasant to be around.
Mr. Frej always gives more than his fair share to any effort. His commitment to others often required him to work around the clock. You were always certain that his commitment was to what was best for the company and the people he worked with. Mohamed also has skills in the areas of business and personnel management.
